All India Radio (AIR), officially known as Akashvani (literally “Voice from Heaven”) since 1957, is the national public broadcaster of India and a division of Prasar Bharati. It was established in 1936. It is the sister service to Doordarshan of Prasar Bharati, an Indian television station.
